Registration deadline
Virginians will elect a new governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and member to the house of delegates come Nov. 5.
However, those wishing to participate in the election must be registered before Saturday’s 5 p.m. deadline.
Currently, some 3,313 Rappahannock County residents are eligible to vote on Nov. 5.
To be registered, a legal resident must have voted locally in any of the last four elections. Any person who has not voted in the last four years will have to register for the 1985 election.
"* To do that, any resident who is at least 17 years old but who will be 18 by election day and is not a convicted felon or judged to be mentally incompetent must register in person either at the registrar’s office in Washington, or at specially designated locations.
Persons do not have to register under party lines. There is no cost to register to vote. If your name has changed since the last election you must re-register.
