The Skyline Ski Area, Washington,
Virginia’s popular representative in the “Banana Belt” of skiing (below the MasonDixon Line) has started preparations for the 1965 season.
Announcing the start-up operations of the new season is president Dr. Roswell S. Bowersett. Operating the resort will be Sears Raymond of Sperryville and Herbert “Humpy” Smoot.
The mountaintop at Chester Gap was teeming with activity Saturday morning when the country store that had been closed for several months reopened as a birthday gift to a little Iranian girl.
The well-stocked store was a third birthday present to Miss Katayoun Elloise Stout from her parents Mr. and Mrs. Perry W. Stout of Chester Gap.
Ralph Rowzie of Amissville took his performance seriously when he told those attending the Country Music Mix Saturday all about Casey at the Bat and the Mudvi’le Nine.
15 YEARSAGO RAPPAHANNOCK NEWS From the Oct. 1, 1970 edition
Six young people were arrested
in Rappahannock County Sunday on charges of possession and controlof marihuana.
Three each, boys and girls, were picked up following a raid on a farmhouse on Va. 552 near Massies Corner that morning.
The raid was authorized by Sheriff Charles K. Estes who had kept the property under surveillance for some time.
