Chichester leads
The poll gives Republican state Sen. John H. Chichester of Stafford County a five-point lead over state Sen. L. Douglas Wilder of Richmond in the contest for lieutenant governor, but that race has become much tighter.
Of 825 respondents, 37 percent supported Mr. Chichester and 32 percent supported Mr. Wilder. Mason-Dixon polls gave Mr. Chichester a 42-29 lead in June and a 42-31 edge in July.
Thirty percent of the voters remain undecided about the race for lieutenant governor, according to the September poll.
