Oatlands holds
garden benefit
A lecture and luncheon to raise money for the maintenance and restoration of the classic terraced gardens of the Oatlands will be held at the plantation Oct. 10.
Lectures will include a presentation of “Exploring America’s Gardens” by Ellen Richard Samuels, noted garden historian, writer and designer, at nearby Simpson Middle School in Leesburg.
The lecture is set to begin at 10:45 a.m. to be followed by a reception and buffet on the lawn at the Oatlands House to honor Mrs. Samuels and special guest Dick Francis, the English mystery writer and former steeplechase jockey.
