The August unemployment rate fell to 5.3 percent of the Rappahannock County labor force, according to figures released this week by the Virginia Employment Commission.
The August 1985 figures represent a decline in unemployment from the same time a year ago when 7.7 percent of the local job force was out of work.
But at the same time a year, approximately 100 more persons were looking for work. The current job force is listed to be 2,665, down from 2,769 in August 1984.
