reconnaissance is vital before asking for a date.

I’ve found that some men become angry if you ask out their wives. Boyfriends aren’t too keen on the idea of asking out their girlfriends.

These things have to be planned, you see.

Today, there are different levels of involvement. A girl could be “seeing someone,” simply “dating,” “going with someone,” “engaged” or “married with six kids and four cats.”

Then, people my age also run into that group of people who are either “separated” or “divorced,” a selection which fills with applicants by the day, I’m sorry to report.

It has turned into a quagmire.

I have also discovered a few facts about dating, learned from my mistakes in these dark days that I’d like to pass along, perhaps saving some other poor slob the embarrassment I endured.

For instance, single men seeking the company of an eligible women should avoid those members of the fairer sex who:

- drive a station wagon.

- spend hours patrolling the baby care section of the supermarket, shopping comparatively.

- have tattoos and wear lots of leather.

- wear football cleats to church.

- are in line in front of you, wraiting to buy a baby car seat.

- became five-time widow.

- hold hands with mammoth-looking men.

- hold hands with other women.

- wash mens’ shorts at the laundromat.

But planning the date is still the most awful part. To me, fun is more enjoyable when it is spontaneous, done without all
