SPTA io meet
The Rappahannock County Elementary School Student Parent Teacher Association will have its monthly meeting in the school library on Tuesday^ February 4, at 7:30 p.m. New parents and teachers are encouraged to attend. Babysitting is provided for parents’ and teachers’ children.
Movie at Family Worship
The Cross and the Switch Blade will be shown at Family Worship Center near Washington on Saturday, February 1, at 7 p.m. The movie stars Erica Stroder and Pat Boone. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Creative Puppetry Workshop
The Child Care and Learning Center is sponsoring a Creative Puppetry Workshop conducted by Maggie Rogers and Bethany Craig. Classes will begin Saturday, February 8, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Gay Street Theatre. The classes will run for seven consecutive weeks with an Easter Puppet Show on March 29. Artists Celebrate Valentine’s Day
The Middle Street Gallery, in its reincarnation as an artists’ cooperative, will hold its opening show on Saturday, February 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. On exhibit will be art work designed especially for Valentine’s Day — inexpensive, one-of-a-kind cards, small paintings and other gifts of the heart.
The show, a joint effort by the 20-some county artists in the cooperative, will run through February 23. Regular gallery hours are 3 to 9 p.m. on Fridays, noon to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Washington Business Council to meet
The Washington Business Council will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, February 6, at 6 p.m. Bramble’s Cafe. All business owners in the Town of Washington are invited to meet with the Council. For more information, call 675-3207 or 675-3738.
Admissions-placement testing -
Wakefield School will hold Admissions and Placement testing on Saturday, February 22, beginning at 10 a.m. There is no pre-application necessary for the testing, but interested parents are urged to call the school before the testing date in order to receive a catalog and application.
Wakefield, a private school for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, has daily bus service to ten counties in Virginia and West Virginia For more information, call the school at (703) 635-8111.
Black History Month program
The Women’s Auxiliary of the Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Association will hold their annual Black History program on February 23 at 3 p.m. at the Orange County High School in Orange. Donations are $3 for adults and $1 for children. Tickets may be purchased from Rachael Aylor, 987-8739, or any other missionary lady from Hopewell. Alfreda Broadus is president and Rachael Aylor is co-worker from Rappahannock.
4-H teen weekend
Summer-In-The-Winter Festival! Plans are now complete for the annual “Summer-in-the-Winter Festival” program which will be held at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center February 7-9, 1986. Cost for the weekend will be $30.00.
