While few people realize the importance of timber to the state, they often overlook the economic importance of additional benefits derived from our forest because it covers two-thirds of the state. The forest resource affects the lives of nearly all Virginians through hunting, fishing, recreation, clean water, landscape and horticultural products, home sites and air quality. The total forest resource is a natural bond of cycles and chains all of which are dependent on each other.
