As Wakefield School’s varsity basketball team begins the second half of its season, the team has raised its record to 6-5 overall and 21 in the Delaney Conference. In recent games, Wakefield lost to Rappahannock High School before rebounding later in the week to defeat Highland View Academy.
In the first game, Wakefield hosted an extremely tall, welldrilled Rappahannock team who used its great size advantage to overpower the Wakefield team! Although the game was close in the early minutes, a strong surge by the Rappahannock team left Wakefield with a 30-10 deficit at the end of the first quarter.
In the second period, Wakefield managed to stay even with the Rappahannock team behind 15 of David Rowzie’s game-high 29 points. However, the Owls were never able to gain any ground on the Panthers, and as a result, Rappahannock led 50-28 at the half.
