Junior Rapp, the name for the paper, was the brainchild of Christopher Sutton, assistant editor. “I’ve worked on other computer programs such as math but this English program is new. I’ve learned a lot more about grammar and spelling. I enjoyed doing this because I get to help people and it’s teaching me to get more skills in case I do this in the future. A lot of my classmates came in with good ideas but it was hard getting it all organized. I had to be in so many places at one time.”
“The feature stories are Mr. Fountain’s return, the Williamsburg trip for the seventh grade, the snow days, Ms. Nowakowski and sports, a4 report on all the grades (each child had one grade to report on), and the Pop Quiz on the front page,” Mrs. Maeyer said. “We hope to get out one more paper in the middle of May. Hopefully, next time we can have more participation from the children and teachers of all grades. I hope pupils will let us know what’s going on. It should be more of a school newspaper next time,” she added.
Junior Rapp will be on sale at RCES the first week of February for 25 cents. “The money will be used to buy supplies and help pay for the Williamsburg trip next year,” said student Chris Sutton.
By the end of the year Mrs. Maeyer hopes her students have learned that “in writing it is always good to have a purpose, an idea, that you have to revise and rewrite and nobody sits down and writes and hands it in. If you don’t succeed at first, try, try again and you will succeed, which I think the kids have proven.”

Wakefield School will hold Admissions and Placement testing on Saturday, February 22, beginning at 10 a.m. There is no pre-application necessary for the testing, but interested parents are urged to call the school before the testing date in order to receive a catalog and application.
