“We started off calling it the RAAC film club because we sold season tickets, 10 movies for $20. A lot of people got the wrong idea. It’s not a club and you don’t have to join RAAC to see a movie,” Dr. Young explained. “We sell tickets at the door for each movie and we’re open to anyone who wants to come.”
Films are shown at the Gay Street Theater in Washington, every weekend on Saturday and Sunday nights at 7:30. Admission is $3, less for RAAC members. Youngsters and senior citizens get a break, too! Upcoming films include:
— February 1 and 2, “Mask,” which won Cher the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival,
— February 8 ami 9, “Sweet Dreams,” an emotionally charged film starring Jessica Lange as Patsy Cline, the country music legend,
— February 15 and 16, “The Gods Must Be Crazy,” a critically acclaimed look in gentle slapstick at the Kalahari bushmen of Botswana from South African filmmaker Jamie Ulys,
— February 22 and 23, “Silverado,” a fast and funny Western from writer-director Lawrence Kasdan whose credits include “The Big Chill,” “Body Heat,” ... “Indiana, Jones” and “Raiders of the Lost 1 Ark.”
