When grazing a woodlot, cattle will eat many indigestible materials. Much of the pure cellulose they graze from a woodlot fills them up and satisfies their appetite when they could have eaten quality food. This could slow down their weight gain. More and better feed can be obtained by improving present pasture than by allowing cattle to roam your timberland.
