Currently, there are several trained Literacy Volunteers looking for students. The program, said a spokesman, is free, confidential, and geared to each individual student's learning abilities and needs. Tutoring times and places can also be arranged to fit each student’s schedule.
The Virginia Library Literacy grant will be used to promote the program and to purchase reading materials for all levels of adult students. “Since Rappahannock County has no adult vocational or continuing education programs, the grant will be an important step to encouraging and furthering literacy within the county,” the spokesman said.
