Highway Equipment Operator C

The Virginia Department of Transportation has 1 opening for Highway Equipment Operator C at the Warranton Construction Craw. Applications are available at the Warranton Highway Residency Office or at the Virginia Employment Commission. Completed applications must be submitted before 5:00 P.M. on August 28,1967. Duties: Operates and maintains heavy-duty equipment, such as motor graders required in fine grading or critical sloping; power shovels; and cranes to accomplish tasks related to snow removal; preventive and corrective maintenance; and construction of highways. Tasks include excavation and grading to dose tolerances. May operate other equipment on occasions, such as bucks; loaders backhoes; dozers; and scraper pans. Performs preventive and minor maintenance on equipment. Performs manual labor and supervises laborers in performing road maintenance duties or operating equipment to include carpentry layout work, the setting of forms and concrete finishing Fills out equipment rental records and timesheets. QraUflcations: Valid Virginia Operator's license. Knowledge of simple English and arithmetic and the ability to read and understand simple written instructions. Ability to operate motor graders required in fine grading or critical sloping; power shovels; cranes; trucks; loaders; backhoes; dozers; and scraper pans. Ability to comprehend and use simple road and bridge plans. Must be physically able to perform heavy manual labor. Ability to instruct others in operating and maintaining equipment.
