She married Burl Settle, who predeceased her.

Surviving are two daughters, Lucy Jenkins and Mollie Pullen, both of Culpeper, four sons, James Settle of Rixeyville, William Ashby Settle of Culpeper, Hoover Settle and Daniel Settle, both of Winchester, a brother Captain Norman of Front Royal, three sisters, Sallie Hawkins of Culpeper, Margaret Burke and Lou Fortune, both of Front Royal, 27 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted August 19 at the Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. Stanley Bowbeer and the Rev. Chester Caudill. Burial was in the Forest Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Viewtown.
