School lunch from home can be a source of food poisoning, unless prepared with care. You may not spot your child’s upset stomach as food poisoning, but rather as a "bug that’s going around.”
To avoid problems, the U.S. Department of Agriculture says you have to remember to keep everything clean - hands, utensils, countertops. Wash all thoroughly with soap and hot water. Keep hot foods hot, cold foods cold, and everything dean. Use tongs or fork to place meat, poultry, or cheese in the sandwich. . .do not use your fingers. Fingers spread bacteria, no matter how dean you licked them.
