will be cleaned from Germanna Ford to the Rappahannock. Rappahannock Canoes, Rappahannock River Campground and Clore Brothers Outfitters will provide free canoes and shuttle as well as free shuttle for participants owning canoes.
Forty-seven miles of river will be cleaned in segments varying from three to eight miles. All state-owned launching posts along that 47-mile section will also be cleaned. The tentative finish time is 4:30 p.m.
A chicken barbecue will be served at Clore Brothers Outfitters at a charge of $3 per person for participants who begin their trip from that staging point. Tickets must be purchased there before beginning clean-up activities. Last year the barbecue received rave reviews. For those signing in at Rappahannock River Campground, hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw, chips and drinks will be served without charge.
All children participating must be at least 12 years old and must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers should bring gloves and wear shoes at all times on the river. Old boots or sneakers are recommended. Trash bags will be provided. Other desirable equipment includes a hat, suntan lotion, insect repellent, trash picks, stiff nets with handles and potato rakes. All participants should bring plenty to drink, and a picnic lunch is recommended.
