Later he worked m a teacher-assistant and adjunct-instructor in literature and in filmmaking at Pepperdine University and at the University of Southern California. Most recently he has taught highschool English at the Washington Preparatory High School in Los Angeles. Mr. Sherwood and his wife and small son will live in Warrenton.

The third new faculty member at Wakefield is Emily Maxworthy, who will teach the second grade, replacing long-time second-grade teacher Mary Jane Fawcett. Mrs. Maxworthy spent much of her youth in Jar pan, where her father was a visiting professor of English.

After returning to this countiy, she attended college and was graduated from Beaver College in 1966 with a B.Sc. degree in elementary education. Her professional experience includes 10 years of teaching elementary grades in public and private schools in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and most recently in Pasadena, California. In Pasadena, she served for many years as president of both the Youth Music Council and of the Art Workshop Council. Mrs. Maxworthy will live in her family's long-time home near Warrenton.
