Fiber show at Middle St. Gallery
A group exhibition of fiber in many forms and in combination with other media is the current offering at the Middle St. Gallery in Washington. With the imaginative use of handmade paper, traditional basketry materials, indigenous flora, clay and wood, gallery artists have created two and three-dimensional sculpture and other objects. The exhibit runs from Friday, Sept. 4, to Sept. 27. The opening is Sunday, Sept. 6, and the public is welcome. Regular gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Coppage family reunion
The descendants of the late George and Florence Lee Coppage will have their family reunion on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Rappahannock Park, Route 211, Washington. “All relatives, friends and their families are invited to come and eigoy a day of love and fellowship with us,” said a family spokesperson. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.

The movie Amazing Grace & Chuck will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 5 and 6, at 7:30 each evening. The movie stars Gregory Peck, Jamie Lee Curtis and Alex English. Meet the heroic team who are determined to save the world in this unusual and moving comedy drama. Chuck, a talented, 12-yearold Little League pitcher, and Amazing Grace, a pro basketball superstar, put their promising careers on hold to devote their time and energy to a worthy cause, eliminating nuclear war. You may discover a tear on your cheek and a lift in your heart as you watch this winning fantasy. The movie is rated PG. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.

An appreciation for Mrs. Boddie
Some former students and friends of Mrs. Julia E. Boddie are planning an appreciation for her on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Washington. Mrs. Boddie taught in the Rappahannock County School System from 1950 until her retirement in 1977. The organizers say that anyone who was a student of Mrs. Boddie’s but didn’t receive a letter is invited to attend. They said it was very hard to remember everyone and there was also some difficulty in getting addresses. The public is also invited to attend.
Baldwin family reunion
The Baldwin family reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at Lake Arrow Head in Luray. Dinner will be served at 2 p.m.
Amissville VFD fund drive
The Amissville VFD will begin its annual fund drive Sept. 24. Members will be solicting contributions door-to-door throughout the Amissville, Viewtown and Jeffersonton areas. They will be in uniform and will carry fire department I.D. cards. The members of the department urge the community to contribute to keeping this essential service going.
As a finale to the fund drive and to kick-off Fire Prevention Week, the department will hold an open house at the fire house Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be demonstrations, literature and volunteers to answer questions. The community is invited to attend.
