The superintendent said that he has already been in contact with several private firms which are experts
in doling with asbestos and their recommendation was to seal off the area until the substance is positively identified. He said that he had already taken that action before contacting the companies.
Dr. Gangel said that Fee Day activities at the high school, scheduled for Thursday, will go on as planned. “I want to emphasize that as far as students and parents entering the building, it is perfectly safe.” They will not be able to see the gym, he said, unless the information has been received that the substance is not asbestos. “However, I want to encourage all to come on in and take care of their fees as scheduled.”
The superintendent said that the administration felt that the precautions taken “were in the best interests of the students. We serve the public and we want to act in their best interests.”
