Law enforcement salaries set by the Compensation Board and other pay scales established by the state are “out of our control,” said Supervisor Lane. “We shouldn’t supplement one, or we may be asked to do the same for others ... It opens a whole Pandora’s box,” he warned.
“They’re performing two jobs — dispatcher and matron,” countered Supervisor Mike Massie. “That’s justification for a supplement.” However, he acknowledged that $10,000 “may be more than we can afford” and suggested $5,000, or $1,000 for each dispatcher, as a compromise and a sign of “good faith.”
