county s planning strategies.

Judging from what was said at the Planning Commission’s meeting last week, it is time to extend the “gray area” further still.

A two-year-old is not going to establish a residence anywhere any time soon. While it is going to be interesting, as Planning Commissioned* Werner Krebser noted, to watch what happens to the lot created under the family transfer provision for that child, the Board of Supervisors shouldn’t wait to close the loophole while they watch.

We suggest they immediately ask the Planning Commission for an ordinance amendment to restrict family transfers to parents and children who have reached their majority and are no longer minors in the eyes of the law and society.

It is proper and just to allow family transfers. It is equally proper and just to guard against the potential for abuse of that right.
