the Sperryville fire hall on Sunday in honor of the Rev. Merlin Shorb was well attended with more than 100 relatives and friends present.
Members of his family attending were his father Wilbert Shorb and his brothers Will Shorb, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Shorb and son Michael, all of Layhill, Md., and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shorb of Harpers Ferry, W. Va., his children Merl Shorb, Denise and Jennifer Shorb of Layhill. Rev. Shorb will graduate from Wesley Theological Seminary at Washington, D.C., on May 9 with a Master of Divinity degree.
Mr. and Mrs. Danny Lillard and family of Clayton, N.C., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Carson Lillard. Joining them during the weekend were Tommy Lillard, Christine Lillard, Steven Lillard, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Moats and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Dellinger and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lillard and family, Michael Lillard, David Lillard and Jean Lillard.
Mrs. Ethel Pullen was a Saturday overnight guest of her daughter Mrs. Debbie Wimmer.
Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Nethers of Stephens City were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Robert Nethers and Mr. and Mrs. Ranny Aylor at Sperryville. Also visiting were Mrs. Dorothy Lewis, Karen Corder and Mrs. Helen Coffey. Heather Aylor was a Saturday overnight guest of her aunt Mrs. Dorothy Lewis and cousin Karen Corder.
Miss Sallie Lillard spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Woodard at Culpeper.
The Flint Hill United Methodist Church will have worship service on Sunday at 11:15 a.m., with Communion. The pastor, the Rev. Merlin Shorb, invites the public.
