Spring Concert

In celebration of its 21st year, the Culpeper-Piedmont Choral So: ciety, will present “An Evening of Beautiful Music from England and the United States” on Friday, May 13, at 8 p.m. at the Culpeper Baptist Church.

Some 52 singers with soloists, organ and orchestra will perform music by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Rudolph Friml and Andrew Lloyd Webber, as well as spirituals and songs of the American West. Featured will be the “Requiem” by British composer John Rutter.

Lois Shanks of Warrenton is the society’s music director and J.R: Cannaday is its accompanist. Some of the instrumentalists are faculty members of James Madison University and Woodberry Forest School.

Although the concert is free and open to the public, donations will be welcomed at the door to help offset the $4,000 production expenses.
