each day, I was exhausted, and ready for sleep by 10 p.m. With only another week of travel to go, home was looking better and better. Because of some bad timing, my trip to Den Hague did not take place, but a business friend drove into Amsterdam and we had dinner together. My friend was accompanied by his two beautiful dogs, and one of them joined us at dinner. I thought they would put us out of the restaurants, but evidently it is not uncommon to have your dog, on a leash, join you for dinner. What a strange way to spend my last evening in Amsterdam.
Flying on British Airways, I headed to London and the end of my travels. I have never been there before, but being a lover of Elizabethan literature, I looked forward to seeing the places named in my books.
Again, my hotel was both beautiful and European, and I think more expensive than I had anticipated. Breakfast was not included in the price, and when 1 think that coffee, rolls and juice cost just under 4 English pounds or almost $8,1 shudder. But what elegant service. I certainly could get very used to this style of living.
Using the buses in England was easy, the maps were very clear and I found my way wherever I went. I did decide to take an all-day exursion to the important sections of London, and this helped me the following days. People from all over the world were on the bus and where Israel was full of German visitors, England had the Japanese, not all of them speaking English. Our guide was remarkable, speaking nine languages, Japanese among them.
