A graduate student from VPI’s Virginia Student Environmental Health Project (STEHP) will be working in the Amissville area this summer, collecting samples from private wells and springs for analysis to assess the quality of the area’s ground watt: r resources.
“We’ye been asking for over a year now, and ttill there’s been no water quality study/done in Rappahannock County,” said Lojyaine Early, founder and leader of the Jackson District Citizens Committee. That group unsuccessfully opposed-establishment of a landfill on the county-owned Stover tract near Amissville. “A lot of people from Jackson District are interested in this," she told the Rappahannock supervisors at Monday’s board meeting. And so application for the grant program was made, she added.
STEHP will pay the salary of the geologist and graduate student from Washington and Lee University, Andy McThenia III, who will spend 10 weeks
