The results of Le Grand Con, cours, the National French Exami! nation for 1988, have been ; announced, and several Wakefield School students have been recognized by the Virginia Chapter for their performance on the exam.
Sixth graders Michelle Paine and Jessica Rich tied for second place in Level IB of the exam, while their classmates Diana Fry and William Dusek took third and fifth places, respectively. Their teacher, John Higginson, expressed satisfaction that his students did so well despite the fact that most of those taking the exam are in high school grades. (The first place winner in Level IB was a ninth grader, Amy Schurtz of Harrisonburg High School.)
