Choral concert May 13

The Culpeper-Piedmont Choral Society will present its annual* spring concert at 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 S. West St. Music director Lois Shanks will lead the 50voice chorus in “An Evening of Beautiful Music” from England and the United States. With soloists, organ and orchestra, “The Requiem” by British composer John Rutter will be performed in addition to songs by Gershwin, Kern, Friml, Porter, Webber and others. Weaver to demonstrate craft

Nancy Garretson, a Virginia weaver, will conduct a workshop and demonstration Friday, May 6, at Blackwater Homestead in Boston. There will also be a discussion and potluck supper. Garretson is part of the RAAC program of Arts on the Road, sponsored by the Virginia Commission on the Arts. On Saturday, May 7, Garretson will be at Middle Street Gallery in Washington from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with her large loom. For information, call 675-3193 or 987-8451.

Roadside Theater to appear
