Though the headlines and plaudits for their “cutting edge” work with superconductors have been filed in their scrapbooks, Rappahannock County High School science students have continued their experiments with the assistance of two nearby universities.
Anthony Fudd, Dan Herman and Anna Hudson were chosen to participate in the 1988 Virginia Junior Science and Humanities Symposium at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. The three juniors, along with RCHS science teacher Teresa McGrady, spent two days at VPI with other students from 50 Virginia high schools, touring the school’s science laboratories and attending several presentations.
The students discussed and saw demonstrated experiments in laser technology, superconductivity, electron microscopy and catalysis.
Dan commented that “it was a fun and enlightening experience."
Anthony added that “I met a lot of interesting people down there and learned a number of new things.”
Anna said, “I really enjoyed seeing some of my friends from other caiftps in previous years.”
