Miss Rappahannock contest
The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad is sponsoring it9 annual Miss Rappahannock contest on Saturday, May 7, at 7 p.m. The contest is open to young women between 2-21 who are county residents. Contestants are asked to obtain their own sponsors, sponsorship fee is $10. A sponsor can be any business, organization or private citizen. A new feature this year will be a Mother/Daughter pageant if there is enough' interest shown. Rehearsal will be held Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at the elementary school. Beef referendum May 10
Beef Referendum voting will be conducted in the Rappahannock County Extension Office on Gay Street in Washington between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on May 10. All cattle producers who owned or acquired cattle and importers of cattle, beef or beef products during the period Oct. 1, 1986, through March 31, 1988, are eligible to vote. This includes 4-H, FFA, and other youth who owned cattle during the designated time period.
DAR tea
The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, will meet on Tues' day, May 10, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Thomas L. Eastham, Ben Venue, Washington. The program is a tea honoring Mrs. Charles R. Haugh, Virginia State Regent, who will also be the featured speaker. Hostesses will be Mrs. Thomas L. Eastham, Mrs. Douglas D. Fairfax and Mrs. Maurice F. Biddle.
Post 1150 to meet
The Rappahannock County Post 1150 will meet on Tuesday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the VFW in Sperryville.
TOPS to host fashion consultant
On May 10 at 10 a.m. Amissville TOPS Chapter 525 will host Fashion Academy consultant Janet Elmore. Help offered for Ag problems
Jack Dunford, Farm Management Extension Agent, will be in the Rappahannock Extension Office to handle phone calls and visits pertaining to agriculture on Mondays in May and June from 9 a.m. to noon. Any resident with questions or problems pertaining to agriculture should call or stop by the Extension Office on Gay St., in Wash-^ ington to talk with Mr. Dunford.
