other communications from and to the State Department of Education in Richmond will be by computer over the telephone lines rather than through the U.S. mail.
F ortunately, Rappahannock’s central office is already computerized and all that will be necessary to comply with the new system will be a $200 modem, the superintendent said. There will be additional costs for long distance telephone calls for this “mail call” service and the State Department of Education has indicated it will assist with this expense, Dr. Gangel said. But there has been no mention by Richmond yet of installing toll-free 800-numbers for “mail call,” he added. “I don’t know what it will mean in total dollars. They don’t know what it will mean in total dollars.”
