The top challenge and her number one priority will be to develop a strong scholarship program to assist parents who want good day care for their children but can’t afford it. But Mrs. Crous noted that she’ll work on the specifics of the scholarship expansion — expected to be funded through grants and contributions — only after she learns more about the needs in Rappahannock County.
She plans changes for CCLC’s after-school program to make it more socially structured. “We want to offer more organized activities, more ‘fun’ activities. And for a start, we’re going to change the name to ‘after-school dub.’ We want kids to think, ‘Hey, this is my club, and I want to go there. I don’t go because I need babysitting.’”
