Sperryville when he lost control of his 1984 Ford pickup truck and ran off the right side of the road. The truck struck a guardrail twice and ran back across both lanes of Rt. 211 and off the westbound shoulder. It struck a sign on that side of the road, ran through the parking lot of a roadside fruit stand, then crossed back across both lanes of Rt. 211 a second time before hitting a tree head on.
Mr. Graham was transported to Culpeper Memorial Hospital by the Washington Volunteer Fire Department’s Advanced Life Support unit. Personnel from the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad also responded to that accident.
Trooper Keen charged Mr. Graham with reckless driving and failure to wear his seat belt. He noted that Mr. Graham’s injuries would probably not have been as severe had he been wearing his seat belt, as is required by Virginia law.
Trooper Keen added that the truck was a total loss.
