CRP signup
extended
To give farmers more time to consider the effects of the drought, the U. S. Department of Agriculture has extended the July 18-Aug. 5 signup for the Conservation Reserve Program through Aug. 31. The voluntary program takes highly erodible land out of farming for 10 years and places it into trees, filter strips, wildlife habitat and other permanent vegetative cover.
Linda Henry, County Executive Director of the Rappahannock and Warren County ASCS, said cropland which has been hayed for drought relief is eligible during this seventh signup period for the 1988 crop year, if the land meets other program requirements. Acreage
