So were her previous jobs: director of a shelter for battered women that drew clients from 17 Texas counties; supervisor of educational programs at the federal prison for women at Fort Worth; and curriculum specialist at the federal medium security prison outside El Paso, one of only three such co-ed facilities in the United States.
“I kind of wanted a break. I was looking for less than a 24-hour-oncall job,” she explained. “But there are still challenges here (as CCLC’s director). There’s responsibility, and I like that.”
