Blue Ridge Christmas
The Sperryville Business Council will sponsor its annual Blue Ridge Christmas celebration this weekend, Nov. 25-27. The town's shops will be dressed in holiday finery, and will offer special sales and holiday gift ideas for visitors. A spokesman for the business council encourages people to "shop the country this year," and avoid the headaches, hassles and traffic jams at the suburban malls.
Holiday baskets for needy f The county's Department of Social Services is collecting donations of food and cash to make Christmas baskets for the county's needy residents. Anyone interested in contributing to the effort is asked to contact the social services office (675-3313) so that an approximation of the number of baskets can be determined. Donations may be sent to the Dept, of Social Services, P. O. Box 87, Washington, Va. 22747. The office asks that no clothing or other household items be donated since there is no place to store them.
