The rich tradition and quaint charm of historic Washington, Va., come to life on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3-4, with candlelit tours, open houses at the shops and bedand-breakfasts, colonial dancing and entertainment at the Town Hall, a variety of craft demonstrations, and colonial meals both days at the local restaurants.

First person “character” tours and historic tours of the art and architecture of the town will take visitors through the streets laid out by young George Washington himself in 1740. Beginning at noon each day, the tours will leave every hour, concluding with candlelit tours through the.gaily decorated streets at night. Tours will highlight a tastefully restored log home, contrasted with a new building constructed from logs salvaged from an old barn, the impressive Courthouse complex and theanviting bed-and-breakfasts.

Strolling carolers will bring back fond memories of country
