Community Thanksgiving service

The annual community Thanksgiving service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, with the Rev. Father Albert Verbeke preaching. Clergy and congregations from Trinity, St. Peter’s Catholic Mission, Washington Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Washington, Family Worship Center, Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church and the Rappahannock Methodist charge will be participating. Other members of the community are cordially invited to come to this special service at 10 a. m. Thanksgiving morning.

'The Last Emperor'

The movie The Last Emperor will be playing at Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. The movie stars John Lone, Joan Chen and Peter O’Toole. Directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, this film is the most honored in 25 years . . . winner of nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Filmed almost entirely on location in China in 1986, the first Western production to be made about modem China with the full cooperation of the Chinese government. Peking, 1908.. .A 3-year-old boy is removed from his home and his mother and is carried through the night to the Forbidden City, the heart of China. His name is Pu Yi, and his abduction will alter China’s history forever. The movie is rated PG-13. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.

CCLC Christmas bazaar

The Child Care and Learning Center will hold its third annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the center. 'There will be light refreshments and lunch served, pictures with Santa, a raffle, crafters and a puppet show from 3-4 p.m. The center’s enormously popular childrens’ shopping room — where the kids can shop for gifts on their own — will also be open all day. Dance team to appear

Thompson and Trammel, an innovative and energetic dance duo, will present a program of dance at the Gay St. Theater on Saturday, Dec. 10. Their concert will include selections from their award-winning performance in Washington, D.C. The program begins at 8 p.m., and tickets will be available at the regular RAAC ticket outlets. Tax workshop offered

The Rappahannock County Extension Office is sponsoring a tax workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Washington fire hall. The program, designed for farmers and small businessmen, will be presented by Jack Dunford, the Extension farm management specialist at the Culpeper County extension office. He has attended tax workshops conducted by the IRS and will share his knowledge, which may help farmers and businessmen make adjustments in their operations which will save on their 1988 taxes.
