Diane Green, Rappahannock’s new county librarian, speaks with the soft accent of her native Arkansas. She is pleased to be working in a small community library where she can do a little of everything, instead of having to be a specialist in a large library system.
“I think I can contribute more to a smaller organization or community,” she said. “In a large organization, you can get lost.”
Her most recent position was the Director of Learning Resources at Southern Arkansas University Tech in her hometown of Camden. There t her work was part teaching, part clerical and part administrative.
Before that she worked at the library at Louisiana State University while earning her Masters in Library Science degree there. “I got acclimated to large university libraries and learned about government requirements there,” she said. “Also
