Roland J. Updike
Roland James Updike, 102, of Front Royal, died Sept. 7 at Heritage Hall.
A graveside service was conducted Sept. 9 at the Forest Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Viewtown, by Rev. Sidney Rodriguez.
Mr. Updike was born in Rappahannock County on Jan. 11, 1887, the son of the late John Henry Updike and Annie Elizabeth Kibler Updike. He was married to the late Willie Moss Moore Updike. He was a member of the Forest Grove Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are one brother, John B. Updike of Washington, Va.; four grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by the Maddox Funeral Home of Front Royal.
