Opinion
have to protect our children and the community through effective law enforcement. Our police departments, prosecutors, courts, probation and parole offices must be supported and given the tools needed to do their jobs properly. Our prisons and jails must be adequate to serve community needs.
This includes adequate juvenile detention facilities. As an example of a pressing need, there is no juvenile detention facility located in this district or anywhere in the region. Hundreds of man hours are wasted monthly transporting juvenile offenders to and from facilities as far away as Bristol.
As a former Commonwealth’s Attorney, I know how hard our law enforcement community works to keep us safe and protected. They deserve our support and the legislative funding necessary to do their jobs.
