No state funds
for library project

When the State Library Board was passing out grant money for library construction last week, it passed over Rappahannock County.
The county’s Library Board was notified late last week that its application for a $250,000 grant to help fund a new library building did not win approval.
“It’s disappointing,” said Grace Sims, former librarian and a member of the local library board. “Of the eight applicants we were the only one that hadn’t applied before and the only one applying for a main library. I suppose money goes to a Prince William for a branch library to serve 20,000 rather than to Rappahannock for a main library to serve 6,000.”
