The show route takes the circus to 18 eastern states from Florida to Maine and back home again, traveling 100 miles or less each day. The tour ends back home in early November. By then the circus will have visited more than 180 communities and covered around 30,000 miles.
People in general and childrens’ field trips especially are invited to come to the circus lot in the morning to watch the Big Top go up. A special circus tour guide will conduct groups around the circus lot, explain what’s going on and introduce them to the animals.
The versatility of members of the circus troupe is inspiring, a circus spokesman noted. “The pretty lady you see later in the day high above your head on the flying trapeze is, not only a housewife and mother in her traveling trailer home, but also has many other responsibilities around the circus in preparation for the show and the maintainance of props, costumes and equipment.
The handsome guy you see as ringmaster, magician and fire-eater is treated well by the entire company — he’s the show cook, turning out 150 meals a day,” he said.
Animals on the show get very special attention. Every one is groomed daily; their spacious living quarters are kept spotlessly clean;
