Just last month, Virginia Lottery officials delivered a check for more than $140 million to the state’s general fund. The $140 million, representing lottery revenues for Fiscal year 1989, will be funneled into the first 37 of 82 capital projects.
“Virginians will soon be able to see their lottery dollars at work as these building projects get underway,” said Thorson. Among the projects that will be funded from this year’s revenue is the construction of a new building for science and technology at George Mason Universityin Fairfax. George Mason will receive $11 million for the new structure.
Also on the list of capital improvements is a new construction at Leesylvania State Park in Prince William County and renovations at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg.
In celebration of its first anniversary, the lottery will double Pick 3 prizes on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
