Other changes approved by the planners include a provision that new residential buildings on commercially zoned land must be set back 10 feet from the side and back lot lines.
Power companies will be authorized to acquire 40-foot-wide rights- j of-way for their distribution lines, rather than the 25-foot rights-of-way that the ordinance calls for now. That change, the commissioners noted, applies only to local distribution lines and would not allow the expanded right-of-way to be used for, long-distance transmission lines.
The zoning ordinance will specify" that only Rappahannock County cam operate a sanitary landfill within the county. And special-use permits for temporary mobile homes will be handled by the County Administrator’s office rather than requiring action by the Board of Zoning Appeals.
