Haunted hayrides
A family fun night of bon fires and haunted hayrides will be held at Mountain Green Farm on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 5-8 p.m. (rain date Sunday). Bring your own hot dogs, marshmallows and blanket for your family. Pinata bashing event and a costume contest for the kids. Advance tickets for adults is $4, children $2, at the gate $6 for adults, $3 for children. Call the Child Care and Learning Center at 675-3237 for further information. All proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund.
Booster Club to sell fruit
The Rappahannock Music Booster Club announces its annual upcoming citrus fruit sale. Sales will begin on Monday, Nov. 6. Further information will be forthcoming. High school students will be selling these delicious fruit selections for one month only. All proceeds will benefit the band and chorus.
'Young Frankenstein'
The movie Young Frankenstein will be playing at the Gay Street theatre on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. each evenihg. A zany Mel Brooks comedy starring Gene Wilder as the professor who creates a new zipper-necked monster, with the help of Marty Feldman his wide-eyed assistant and Madeline Kahn as the doctor’s fiance. This 1975 film is a finely tuned parody of all the old Frankenstein movies - with great music, sets, laboratory equipment (some from the 1930’s) and black and white camerawork. The movie is rated PG. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
Recycling meeting Nov. 14
Recycling coordinator Nina Stamer announced that there will be an open meeting at the courthouse on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. to discuss recycling. Mrs. Stamer said questions about recycling are welcome, as well as suggestions about how to better implement the county’s recycling program. Call Mrs. Stamer (675-3810) for more information.
Pre-school story hour
The Rappahannock County Library will be holding a pre-school story hour on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. beginning Nov. 1 and continuing through Nov. 29. For more information call the Library at 675-3780.
Halloween dance
The Crazy Eights will be having a Halloween dance at the Washington fire hall on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight. A cash prize will be awarded for best costume. Tickets are $7. All food sold will benefit Spring Mountain School.
RAAC presents concerts
RAAC is very busy the month of November, presenting three exceptional musical concerts for your enjoyment, said Director Kay Robertson. Appearing one night only, at the Gay Street Theatre on Friday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. is John McCutcheon. Admission is $8.50 to the general public (advanced tickets) and $10 at the door on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. RAAC will present Tony Rice in concert. Admission is $10 general public (advance) and $12 at the door. The Ellis Island Band, a traditional Irish music trio will be appearing on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. This popular Baltimore-based trio is known for its vitality of performance and versatility of repertoire. Performing with the Ellis Island Band will be Jean Denny-Jensen, a superb stepdancer. Admission is $8.50 in advance and $10 at the door.
