FRONT ROYAL — Both candidates in the race for the 31st District seat took the opportunity to address business and community leaders in Front Royal last week and found themselves on the same side of the fence on most issues dear to the heart of small towns.
Democratic challenger David Crump and Republican incumbent Delegate Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr. vowed to up the state’s spending on local projects in 10-minute campaign speeches to Front Royal Rotary members.
Crump proposed that he would be the more effective candidate for the district because of his affiliation with the ruling party in state government.
“Of the $200 million dollars raised by the lottery, I am shocked to say that not one dime came to the 31st District,” Crump said. ~ ' - v
Crump called for increased state funding for such Ideal projects and institutions as jails, roads, hospitals and schools.
