A cookie-decorating party is a good way to keep young children out of mischief on Halloween.
The cost is low, especially if home-baked cookies are provided instead of bakery cookies. The finished cookies can be given as party favors to take away in bright-colored shopping bags.
Set the bewitching hour for late afternoon, so a light but nourishing sandwich supper can be served while the cookie decorations are drying, and send the guests on their trickor-treat calls before dark.
