The Democratic nominee for Governor, Wilder, while professing now to be conservative, has the most liberal voting record of any member of the General Assembly of Virginia, based on the records compiled by “Young Americans for Freedom,” which according to their publication “is the only conservative organization in Virginia that prepares an annual political rating of members of the General Assembly. We provide this information in order to give interested citizens a further perspective from which to judge the performance of their representatives in Richmond. Virginia Young Americans for Freedom is a non-partisan organization promoting the principles of limited government, individual liberty, a free enterprise economy, and a strong national defense.”
Our two-time Governor of Virginia, Mills Godwin, is reported to have advised voters “that when electing someone to an important political office, you have to look at his votes and record of the past as a vital measure of how they would act in the future.”

There are only two years in which they both served in the Senate at same time. Seven years later in 1984, he again voted zero. This was the year he voted for SB-407 — authorizing localities to engage in collective bargaining with public employee unions and to sign binding agreements.
