But Halloween night is yet to come.
For spooks too young for the streets, the Rappahannock County PTA offers haunted houses, candy apples, costume judging, pumpkin carvings and trick-or-treating - all in the confines of the Rappahannock County Elementary School.
Children, ages kindergarten through fifth grade, are invited to knock on a few doors as the PTA presents, ‘Trick-or-treat Street” on Tuesday evening. From cardboard boxes, parent volunteers have created rowhouses. Inside each house a parent-disguised goblin will give knocking tricksters a treat.
Elementary school events begin at 5 p.m. and cost $1 per child but no more than $5 per family.
But young children even have another option. Younger costumed ghosts and goblins are invited to Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington on Halloween Night for a hotdog dinner, games, prizes for everyone and the video, “The Wiz
